December 10, 1949 – December 24, 2024
God saw you getting tired,
A cure was not to be.
So, he put his arms around you
And whispered, “Come with Me.”
With graceful eyes we watched you,
We watched you pass away.
Although we loved you dearly
Perhaps they are
Not stars, but rather
Openings in Heaven
Where the love of our
Lost ones pours through
And shines down upon us
To let us know
They are happy.

A Life Well Lived
Anita Carol York, MD, was born on December 10, 1949, to David and Neva York in the state of Washington.
Anita was predeceased by her husband, Jerry Fisher. Anita is survived by her sister, Candace Moore, her brother-in-law, Myles Folger, her nephew, Colin Moore and his daughter, Lilli Moore, and her beloved stepchildren.
Anita received her M.D. from Reno School of Medicine at the University of Nevada. She then did her residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at UCI. She went on to establish the “Doctors of Women Medical Group” practice in Irvine and was affiliated with St. Joseph Hospital in Orange and Hoag Hospital in Irvine. In the last half of her career, she practiced gynaecology exclusively and was an accomplished surgeon. Anita was passionate about her work and loved caring for her patients, many of whom she cared for during the thirty-five years she practiced.
From 2009 to 2019 Anita joined “Aloha Medical Missions,” a medical-surgical team of physicians, nurses, dentists, and ancillary health care professionals. Once or twice a year she travelled to the Philippines or Honduras to care for the underserved. She would spend ten to twelve hours a day in surgery helping women who came from miles away to receive free medical care.
Anita travelled the world with her group of adventures seekers. She was a certified Advanced Scuba diver and dove in the most exotic and beautiful oceans around the globe.
She was highly organized and self-disciplined and had to be to fit in all her passions and interests. As an avid golfer she enjoyed golfing with her girlfriends and Jerry. Anita and Jerry hosted the “Martini Classic” golf tournament in Coronado for many years. She was a gourmet cook and started a gourmet group of four couples that dined together for three decades. Her new pastime was playing MahJonng with her sister and friends.
She loved all her Golden Retrievers, although she called Phillip her ‘Best Boy.’
